5 minutes to 2007.
Looks like it'll be 1 January once I'm done with this post.
I haven't been updating since don't know when. But I'll start from D&D.
Friday 29 Dec.
D&D was quite an experience I must say, eye-opener perhaps. I find it rather heartening to see a bunch of sec4s successfully organizing and running such a large scale social event. FUEL did a fantastic job, really. All from the promoting of the event right down to getting everyone in the groove and mood for the night (: Of course with many thank yous to Uncle Greg and Auntie Liz.
Ambience at the Grassroots club was just nice. Nice in a sense that it had a feel of a proper dining yet also with a debonair and effervescent light- heartedness to it. The Con3 dance item was just enough to kick start the whole evening with a boom. Great job guys (: considering the point that you guys didn't have much time. (I affirm you haha)
It was also Annie's birthday haha, and she looked really cute in her piglet outfit heh. The theme was masquerade, hence explaining the costumes. HALMM all came in costumes and very interesting ones too. What with the Grim Reaper and Cleopatra. Pretty much kept us laughing our heads off during the best-dressed contest :D
Dance was a slight bummer hahaha. I won't say why heh. Finished off at twelvish, and I hitched a ride home from Angie's dad.
OH. And now I have this HUGE lollipop, and I have absolutely no idea where to start :D
Saturday 30 Dec.
Spent this day doing gardening. Most of it cutting grass anyway. The house doesn't have a mower so it was manual all the way for Mr. Backyard. So Petra Emil Simeon and I brought out out scissors and grasscutters to start our 'deforestation'. I never knew that we had so many species of spiders in our backyard man :S
Well, actually we cut the grass because we planned to have a BBQ at night. Which we did. MARSHMALLOWS over the fire are the BEST. So ends this day. A special day.
Sunday New Year's Eve.
Today was draggy. The last day of the year. Imagine. The last 24 hours of 2006. And here I am blogging into 2007. My first post haha.
Anyway, during this time of the year where people look back and say to themselves 'oh that day was fantastic' or 'I can't remember myself being more spastic then this year', I can't see a big significance. Maybe our human minds only trigger reflection and memories only just because 2006 is counting down its last few minutes. Nothing that pasts will come again. That's when people say carpe diem. Seize the day.
Then it strikes me.
Why must it only be the end of the year when we use to reflect? Why must we wait annually to look back and laugh and groan at ourselves. Resolutions come in all shapes and sizes. Why wait till year end? Carpe diem is seizing the day afterall. Not the year.
So why not an examen for everyday? People say they learn when they look back. Then certainly by looking back everyday, we learn 365 times more than if we look back annually. Right?
It's ironic that to move forward we have to look back. Someone once told me that reflection is like waiting at the bus stop. You want to take a bus to bring you somewhere, that's moving forward. Yet, you have to turn back in the opposite direction to watch the buses that are coming and spot the one that will take you to your destination. That. That is reflection.
And I guess this is my reflection for 2006. Tears and pain, joy and laughter. These things have come and gone, but if we've gained nothing from it, the lessons will be taught again. And again. Until they're learnt.
It's time for 2007.
Have a blessed New Year everyone (:

More on that later. Right now it's back to work. I'm hoping to finish the whole lot before I leave for dinner tonight.

Right. So I haven't been updating much over this busy business period. Hmm, I think I'll just breeze through the events, seeing that I've neither time nor energy to go into detail anyway.
Okay, I'll start with carolling. This year was relatively less busy I guess. 9 houses. 3 nights. It went great I suppose, I think we've brought bringing cheer to a whole new level with our poppers popping and jingle bell bopping (: Cheers to Sanctus Spiritus! Food was fantabulous as usual.
I think my christmas shopping this year was rather rushed again. Suprise surprise. Well, met Julian Michael Charm Angie Andrew Chris and Iddie in town after the P6 posting results thing in school. We walked around shops, and I must say, not really productive. Most of the time we were spending standing around and waiting for someone else to make the move. Which I actually detest.
Then Julian and I decided to go to Cold Storage on our own since the rest couldn't make up their mind heh. Charm joined us later since the rest went off to J8. Bought a kitkat chunky and some gummies for charm then it was off to Heeren to get Angie's present, with some help from Charm. Then I had to go for carolling and Julian had to go home and Charm had to go to bugis to catch a movie, so we all went on our way.
Saturday morning was spent with Godma and Greg at the Marriott Hotel. Buffet breakfast ! (: What's better then that. Only thing was we had to wake up early early. Even though we had carolling the previous night. Well the food was great, I think I had plenty of egg that morning. First time I tried Egg Benedict. Pretty good I must say. Afterthat we did a fair bit of shopping. First at Wheelock then Cathay. Thank you godma for your present (:
AGR at St. Pat's was, hmm, I'll just say it could've been better run. I appreciate the boys whom I know tried their best and put in alot of effort into the event. So thank you. Oh and thank you Nat for your lovely S&K t-shirt (:
Carolling that night went great and ended off with a blast at Mon's place haha (:
Sunday and Monday we had choir breakfasts yay! (:
Today was Legion day. Tuesday! Woke up late damn, so I met the rest at novena. I had something new for lunch today, thanks to Matto James and Joel. Pepper lunch! (; Pretty novel and rather delicious. As for the pricing, erm, a little on the high side. They let you cook your food la! How cool is that!
Then we went to Cathay to watch 'The Holiday'. Pretty interesting movie, fresh and enjoyable. It also made you think a little hahaah. A little. Cameron Diaz and Jude Law looked really great together on screen haha. (: Quite worth $6.50 I must say.
And that was that.
We all scooted off home.
In the heavy cold rain ahahaha.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
okay i just got back from prefects' camp. and so i have a lot to update on. not so much on camp but on events prior to it.
okay i'll start with my rare shopping trip (for christmas only) along orchard on saturday! after the briefing for camp i went down to town with melvin to do some christmas shopping for the legion guys. was hoping to help each other defray costs actually but we ended up buying presents for each other at zara. omg. bomb. managed to pick out something nice for julian too (:
then we went to borders after meeting julian. bought godpa's present. and found some real cool books. psychology stuff. borders rocks. then we walked to heeren to hmv! hohoho cds galore! and ian bought this jazz cd i think. haha the rest of us just walked around and listened to cds (: then to robinson's it was to look at shirts and to take a break at the shoe section. sitting down when we weren't even trying shoes. haha then melvin went to marks and spencer's to get cookies. which in the end he didn't.
marcus was darn funny. his voice goes up and down like music haha. so his walao became a high WA low LAO. classic. had a break at plaza sing's macs where we met charm and her friend evlin i think both of whom had just watched eragon and rated it okay. whatever that means. so now charm has her yellow buddy back for christmas haha (:
then it was almost 530 so marcus julian melvin and ian left for mass at risen christ and charm went home, leaving me to go back to topman alone to get michael's present. yes nat. go METRO. ahhaha. then it was off to church for our first carolling night yay! haha. went to father fossion's place first and luckily (or unluckily) his favourite carol was O holy night. so yah. my first solo ever. and i think it went alright, couldn't help but smile when i saw father's expression. gladdening. and his small little room gave a very christmassy feeling especially with all the lights and colours. not to mention the cigar smoke heh.
next house was lizzie's and gabby's. food was good man. they had turkey whoo! haha. damn shiok the cheese cake. let's just say i had a little more than one plate. a little more hahah. then it was off to balmoral, the cheese place as ben calls it. yvan's place actually. the ham there was fantastic lah. the log cake rocked too. and i just realised i talked alot about food. haha opps. by then i was darn tired. like who wouldnt be after walking up and down orchard! ahha. and then singing! reached home about 1245 and tumbled into bed.
sunday started off with us being late for mass. then prac went quite fast. maybe because my eyes were half closed half the time. off to melvin's in the afternoon for his bbq christmas party. along with my stuff for prefects' camp. ate alot that night. oops food again. man, tis the season for pigging out! haha. that night was spent bridge xbox late night convos and exchanging presents hahaha.
next day was camp. and well. camp i don't have nothing nice or not nice to say so im not posting on that. i'll just say we'll see how it goes. hoped it achieved its purpose.
i just realised this whole post is very much like those i had in sec1. just rattling on and on. boring but yeah ahha. i still having christmas shopping to do! and i can't make christmas cards oh no.
well. i think i'll do charm's thing then.

so it's done. we're all confirmed! haha. so now begins our official invitation to begin ministry. to spread and serve. to give value to what we've been talking about all this time. to make real all those catechism lessons. easier said than done i suppose. but looking at nat as an example, nothing is unreachable.
i'm glad sji made her students join catholic societies. because the legion really helped me grow in my faith, person and maturity. more so than any amount of catechism lessons i dare say. faith service community. values integrated in my life, in line with the catholic faith. many thanks to stang and the legion.
thank you all those legionaries who turned up yesterday to attend the mass. i really appreciate it, especially since some of you guys came from chalet straight (leonard :D). thank you nat, retirees 06, theodore, francesca and ian (thanks for making the effort to come all the way from city hall, it meant alot :D) for your cards and gifts! thank you samB for the beautiful flower (: thank you barney and angie for your letters! thank you alex and andrea for the nice cd and hohoho cool necklace! really nice of you all! and catechists for the rosary ahah (: thank you mum and dad and olga petra emil simeon grandma and kuku too! you guys know me best! thank you edwin moses aaron and many many others who congratulated me (sorry can't remember all).
and of course stang. my godpa. haha. thank you for being there these past 3 years to build and guide my character and faith. the shirt is really cool too. and i'm sure the book is too. afterall you've always bought the right books hahaa. okay i don't know what i meant by that. oops.
con 3 has been eventful. you guys make great company. let's build on what we've achieved (: mark and (uncle) greg, you've done a wonderful job as catechists. i affirm you haha.
i hope prata was good (should be, if not, feel free to blame joel haha). mike's house provided good company too. how can it not. i won every single bridge game last night haha. i'm so proud of myself ahah. yah right. but seriously. good food new faces new friends talking cock and playing. thanks.
and of course the most important person i have yet to thank. HE. the alpha and the omega. the one who's been there all through the good and bad times. the one who carried me up when i fell. the one who guided all my decisions and provided opportunities. thank you lord (:
if i have forgotten anyone, im sorry i don't mean to leave you out. i'm kinda tired yah and my brain doesn't function properly during hols ahah (:
silence.
not the absence of noise.
but the quietening of the soul.
and time spent alone with the Almighty.
thank you godpa.

Just got back from Legion chalet, and feeling rather jaded. No thanks to my many many bridge games throughout the whole night. Many of which left me confused heh.
I hoped the chalet went well for us. I'm not too sure myself, for reasons I would prefer to keep to myself. It was fun of course, and well balanced with enough faith aspects. But the fruits will take time to grow and ripen. And hopefully produce more seeds.
It's been a busy week. And it'll end off with a bang tomorrow! It's less than 24 hours till confirmation, but I think confi's just to empower us now as catholic adults to really start living our faith. As in really live it out. It's one thing to know about faith, but what use would that be if it isn't lived out? You might as well not know.
Stang shared about life being a struggle, a journey from the mind to the hard. And I agree that it's the most difficult to do. It's so much easier to just spout words, but so difficult to ensure that they aren't empty ones. Life is a struggle, and Stang also said holiness is not the goal we strive to reach, but the struggle to get there.
Jul once shared that confi doesn't mean you receive the Spirit. It means it's time for the Spirit who has been in 'deep freeze' in you since your first breath to catch aflame and become a light to others. ABLAZE!
Let's not treat confi as just some celebration of us being recognized as 'adults', because that's just a superficial level. What confi should do to us is allow our faith to transcend above everything in our life. Body, mind, heart, soul. And when it does, then it has achieved its purpose.
If not, we'll just end up holding keys to doors that we cannot find.
