tuesday and wednesday was kind of sick, really. M1 tens tournament. Poor cleaners at yio chu kang. my heart goes out to them. after 2 days of people swimming in dirt, then flooding the toilet with milo coloured water at ankle depth, who wouldn't cry at the mess to clean up? it's not even their mess!
i think it's time we appreciated those who work like crazy for so little. those who give so much and receive so measly. some people say that the only reason why cleaners do what they do is because they did not work hard at getting their certs in schools. and in today's world, no cert means no pay. more certs, higher pay. but everyone has their own talent, don't they? some say that there'll always be people who have to 'fail' (compared to those who score higher in their generation, it's all relative). because we'll always need them to clean the toilets and clear the rubbish. so isnt that the reason why parents push their kids so far? to have a brighter future.so that they'll be seating on comfy leather chair in an aircon office while someone in the carpark washes their Jaguar. but if everyone wins, who'll do the dirty work? the thing about the world's screwed up system is, someone has to lose. and that poor loser has to do the dirty work. it's a sad sad world. especially for the losers. who we see in our daily lives as cleaners and rubbish men and kalang guni(s) AKA rag and bone men.
and empathy i feel for those 'environmental agents' at yio chu kang stadium. i have to mention that the pitch is like a typical pig sty you see in movies like 'Babe', only bigger. but it wasn't in that condition before the rain and the ruggers came. when the U14s started playing on tuesday, the field was a brilliant shade of green with the 2 posts standing white. when the U14s finished, the field was still in a good condition(even though it was raining). but then came the U20s, who ravaged the field, turning the beautiful turf into a mudpit of reasonable disgust. when the U17s came on wednesday, the field was reeking of dung fertilizer and repelled almost everything. but you gotta do what you've gotta do, so the guys when on with a game in mind. and came out having had a mudbath. i went in wearing green and white which was 1kg. i came out as a brown mud monster out of a scooby-doo cartoon wearing a chocolate-coloured mud-coated 'thing weighiing at least 3+kg. imagine. i'll spare you the other gory details about the washing of clothes.
did so-so in the competition i guess. got a Plate champion medal for the U14s. did not -so well for U17s and received a Shield runners-up.
Hopefully the cleaners didnt die from cleaning the mess.

back from PSLTC and Legion Chalet. and it was fun, fun, FUN!!!
i'll try to keep the post real short. my brotherhood in psltc was' xiong di'. made some new friends like weijie and kangting and strengthened bonds with jared and marcus.
during the course of the camp, there was a period when we hd to come out with a skit. and xiong di came out with the funniest dumbest, not to mention original skit ever! we use the barney tune to come out with our brotherhood cheer and it was loads of fun 'bombing' ppl before meals.
attended quite a few confirmations too. matthias' was on the sunday of psltc. auggie's was on the saturday after legion chalet( i didnt go because of cat class bbq). and josh's was on sun day at holy cross. and jason's marcus' and tim's is next sunday at risen christ.
well legion chalet was fun. duh right? played beach rugby on one of the days. haahas. gareth and i totally 'owned' the others. then on bapok night, we had some creepy scary fun going out late at night to see bapoks. ahhahs. it was way creepy. i was like staring at a car which had its headlights turned off, and i was damn shocked when i saw a pimp inside la! anyway, before that we had watched 'white chicks'. picked up some lines from the show , which was hilarious. lines like 'i am so freak-in' piss-ed' and 'what a beautiful chocolate man!'
we watched 'the exorcism of emily rose' during the chalet too. not so freaky if you find the meaning behind it. it had the whole theme of staying on the right path throughout the film, which was pretty meaningful.
cat class bbq was on saturday night. hahahs joseph, kena dunked. not much of a social gathering la.
training was hell yesterday. body ache all over this morning. someone stepped on my chest with his studs! arr... oh well, if you don't come for training for a week, what do you expect? anyway, ruggers can feel pain, but they shouldn't show it. quote mr nathan.
oh and lastly, i got posted to 336 but i decided to appeal for literature instead of the biology i was offered. so i would most likely be in 321 or 322. i hope it's 321.

smile eugene!!!
oh, and i happen to find these 2 pictures of eugene and jervis.enjoy. what the heck is jervis doing???

tomorrow is the release of posting results. i'm really hoping i get into a good class...
a good class for me isn't one which only excels on the academic stage. but more on the class which has a lot of what i would call 'life'. i would hate to be in a class where everyone's competing and no one cares about anything except whether they're first. where the competition is so intense and fierce that class spirit is destroyed. e.g. 206'05.
i think i'll be in the same class as julian and joseph, which is wonderful. but if they put me in 334(which is unlikely) with 9 subs, i wouldn't be complaining.hahas.
apart from that, there's also PSLTC(Peer Support Leaders Training Camp) tomorrow, which will last till sunday. it'll be damn fun. i just hope the posting results wouldn't dampen our spirits. so i'll be back on sunday. don't miss me.

training today was so- so. Not too bad. Just simple passes. Oh, by the way. I CAN'T PASS FAR!!! Yet....
anyway there's an upside to today's training. We FINALLY got our Tracksuits! Yay!! hahas. and also our training jerseys. Which is an ugly light green. They should have given us the short- sleeved dark green one that Moses and co. has. hmm... We're in no position to complain anyway.. ohwell.
the tracksuit is sponsored by FBT this year. In case you're wondering, Joseph or Luke, it's white with green stripes. It's looks nicer than last year's white on green design but it's heavier. So, I'll be looking for my 2nd one next year ( if I'm in the team, that is). Train, train, TRAIN HARD.

SUPERFICIALITY.
On the surface. Fake. False.
It really sucks la. People who act cute, act cool. Poseurs. People trying to be something they're not, they lose their own identity. Its all on the surface. For everyone else to see. But they know that no matter how many branded apparels they put on, no matter how they act ( they're 'cool' sitting positions, they're ankle length socks), they know who they're hiding behind the fake smile.
the problem is, we people buy it. i don't deny that we ourselves are superficial. sometimes, it might be good just to be someone for a while. but never overdo it.
we judge by face value, on the cover. we see a hot girl, we'll all say she's 'chio' 'hot' whatever. we immediately classify her as successful, popular, 'in'. but when we see someone not exactly attractive, all the bad points we can find on that person comes out. things like ' look at that ugly scar, he must be a gangster' can be thought but never said aloud. its uncalled for. he might have got the scar while saving a friend or something. the thing is, we don't go that deep. like i said, everything is judged before we even know the person.
you know that 9pm show on channel8? well, i saw the episode yesterday. the mum of a character forbids her daughter to be with her boyfriend just because he has an unattractive face and holds a low paying job. i mean, how superficail can you get?
the daughter however, is willing to be with the guy because she accepts his faults and would go thru thick and thin with him. it could be because'love is blind' or perhaps she sets no expectations. that's quite rare. to meet someone who sets no expectations. we all set expectations. we all want rich, good looking spouses. but the hitch is, there are always the not so attractive people. and they need some love too! we think that if they're rich or pretty, they bring happiness. no way man! who's the fella who sets these standards? as long as the one you love bring you hapiness, nothing should matter.
so for all those superficial people out there, this post is for you to reflect on.

Leaders are people who know what to do at the right time.
They know when to be serious and when to go crazy and have fun.
That is why they are respected.
