UNFIT. That's the word.

Wednesday, October 25, 2006
I'm really disappointed with the behaviour of certain people.
Because I really think it isn't fair, in fact cowardly.
It's uncalled for and it goes against everything we should stand for.

I don't think we should make matters worse by complicating already messed up issues.
The world has no need for it.
If we plan to fix things in such a way that it boosts our image,
then I really think we've got the wrong motivation.

Your emotions don't lie to you.
Because they can't.
They are neither right nor wrong.
Because it's how you feel.
And that feeling is yours and will always be true for you.
No matter what your mind tells you.
Your heart will not lie.

People change like the seasons.
Some for better.
Some for worse.
Who are we to say?

Thanks for the powerful and meaningful conversation yesterday night.
I appreciated the ear.

I feel like a Dorian Gray.

i've been talking with a few like-minded josephians who are quite dissatisfied with the apathy around us.and it seems sometimes small things we try to do to change the situaiton, meets with laughter, or even worse, they don't budge. they think everything is perfect.

or even worse, wallow in self pity, and emote about how life sucks and all that without making an effort to change anything.

recently ive become bloody irritated with purely hedonistic people.lltc rubbed it in quite a bit.
ok world scale: there's a lot of trouble going on.but saying 'world peace' or something along those lines already puts people off.

so, sji level.
a lot is breaking apart.
a lot of traditions are dying.

one of them is the senior-junior relationship.
most people are too fuggin interested in having 'lives', going out to play pool, or town everyday.
but in school, do nothing.
please, i've never seen such relationships at such an apathetic low (translated: disinterested).kinda pisses me off.

everyone's so closed off to new ideas, new opinions,so stubborn about stuff.

sji's seeing some decline because it places a lot of emphasis on student leadership.
but student leaders arent seeing the weight of their shoulders.
and are unwittingly bowing to it, and letting things crumble.

i don't see many senior-junior friendships now.
i don't see a lot of active change going on.
i think a lot of people are into the whole relationship thing, or whatever
true love at 15 years old or whatever age shit.
and too many people are concerned with just looking good,
instead of looking good on the inside.

sigh.
if you're reading this,
please.
do your part for sji.

if you do feel for it,
spread the message,
even the smallest rock, makes a difference,
in the course of water down the river.

Ian

that's so darn true ian.
i totally agree.
but it's not enough to just talk about it.
i love my school.
and i don't want to be the ones to see the crumble.
much less be part of it.

we have to do.

of disappointment, hard work and underperformance.

my results for FYE is absolutely hdoqheqw09i-1hdfijsmck.
it's horrid. that's what it is.
in fact, it's the worst result i've ever seen on my report card.

i bloody nearly failed the whole exam.
i take 9 subs and i failed 4. that's almost half.

my english missed my expected A1 with only 70.
I failed chemistry and higher chinese (which was kinda expected)
BUT.
i can't believe i failed A Maths and Combined.
I've never failed history ever.
and i was confident for A Maths.
heck. i was confident for both maths.
but they were the ones who pulled me down.

it's an underperformance.
terrible, especially for final year.
i barely promoted. yes, that's how bad it is.

surprisingly, i don't feel that depressing feeling inside.
i know i studied hard. and i know i understand my stuff.
and that's all that matters i suppose.

it's not my fault i cannot comply to the way the exam is.
is it?
what puzzles me is how i can study and still fail.
i need to think it over and make it work.

like i told my mum when i got back home,
"mum, i failed 4 subjects.
but don't worry. i'm gonna score 6 points next year."

my mum has never worried about my studies.
no matter how good or bad.
and even now.
i don't think she needs to.

Hansel, your strongest sense is Common Sense

Have friends or co-workers ever referred to you as the "voice of reason"? If you find yourself a beacon for those seeking advice, it's because you've got a great head on your shoulders. With your practical approach, your instincts are sure to guide you down a logical path. You've gotten your sensible smarts along the way from the school of life. Forecast calls for rain? Take an umbrella. Hitting the hiking trail? Don't wear flip-flops. You probably consider these no-brainers, but don't underestimate yourself — common sense isn't always as common as you'd think. Way to go!

The Schoolgirl Kills Herself After Failing an Exam

She jumps from the tenth floor of a housing block
into the brief wild terror of freedom, and transforms
into twelve paragraphs of newsprint in the Straits Times,
cool and objective, black and white, verifiable facts only.

We are told that her classmates are "shocked".
And that her parents refuse to comment. We know that
she scored 41 marks for her last exam paper, a fatal result.
A teacher describes her as a "quiet, hardworking girl".

We feel obliged to pause to reflect. We wish to search
our conscience. She was only eleven, we remind ourselves.
There must be others like her. There must be another way,
we suspect, for children to grow up in this country.

But yesterday’s news is quick to slide into the grey of memory.
She will become another incidental casualty. We turn the page.
We forget. Again we trip and fall head first into the future,
down into the depths of a national urge to never stop excelling.

Gilbert Koh.

I guess, some people just choose not to see.
Not to believe.
Till it's too much to bear.
Hope, is a powerful anesthetic.
Hope, it is the quintessential human delusion- simultaneously the source of your greatest strength and your greatest weakness.

My view on teenage relationships.
A simple NO.

Teenagers (young adults as some of them would like to term it) undergo a period in their life known as puberty. Hormones are raging, actions are usually impulsive, and they are searching for their own identities.

Basically, whatever you do, whatever you say to your partner in a relationhip at such a young age, IT'S MOSTLY an act.A few years down the road, you turn to your partner and you think to yourself. "Why am I together with him/her? Is this what I wanted in the first place?"You realise that you have nothing much to gain from this relationship that you have desired so badly for.

Some thoughts about relationships for teenagers.
-Think about it, is face value what you want eventually.

-If you know what true love is. GO ahead! It's great to share love. But always be careful. You might never know what the other person is thinking.

-Teenage relationships are damaging to the heart. One heartache leads on to another. Your first breakup will spur you on to get into a new relationship to mend that broken-ness. Think again, will this new relationship cause you to have another heartbreak? If the answer is most likely yes, WAIT, because God always has a plan for you. You WILL meet that guy/girl that was made for you. When these relationships have caused you to be broken, by the time you are a working adult.. You would be such a broken man/woman. Don't risk it.

-Most married couples stay together longer if they've had only a few relationships before that (there are always exceptions). Notice the increasing trend of early marriages and divorces seen in Singapore these past years? Do put a stop to it!

STAND UP!
Voice your views. It's a right every one of us is entitled to!
If you feel sex, alcoholism, and drugs is the way to go.
Have it your way. It's a free world.
Besides, all these are just bad habits, it doesn't define a person. The person might not necessarily be bad now isn't it?

The above is from Nat's blog. I just found it meaningful and I think it struck a chord with my own view. Do tag and comment. ((:

Today I shall take a break from my studying and reply tags.

Nat.
+ Wah. first time I see people spam my blog heh. Ya 12 marks damn heart pain man, I just had SS today, quite okay although I didn't manage to finish my Source Based. I figured I'll score higher at essays anyway. Yup Keith is so sweet. ((:

Charm.
+ Hello Charmaine. I haven't learnt Industrialisation in S'pore. So ya. But I SPOTTED CORRECTLY! I guessed that Sri Lanka and N. Ireland will come out and it DID! heh. We were all like shiok man.

Ed-T.
+ Heh, cannot. LKY's memoirs might be biased. Must see purpoe. HAHA. MUST BE TOO MUCH STUDYING.

Gretch.
+ Is it a sucky topic? Industrialisation. We learnt USA'S Boom Years last year for Sec 2 history. Real solid interesting stuff.

Iddie.
+ Talk to the picture. It's obvious I'm taller. But then again. Michael is only 2cm taller. like that's not alot. ((:

Jeremy.
+ What's RL? Dinner that one you have to wait long long.

Edwin.
+ Your hair was bloody LONG lor. look like a girl who forgot to comb her hair.

Olga.
+ SS is easy if you study. It's common sense actually. plus a few factual stuff.

Yup. I guess I better head back to studying for E MATHS. Although I'm pretty confident.

SS is propaganda yes.
And pretty general stuff too.
Like don't need to learn kind of common sense thingy.
With details.
Which happens to be the stupid part that involves studying.
Whoo exams.

You have to like something to do well in it.
I always say that.
But I never got round to liking them.

Exams don't test. It's such a memory thing.
I don't see how it tests learning when all of us do revision last-minute anyway.
HAHA ((:

have a good week.

MUG!

Photos from Sec4 154th Speech and Graduation Day.
You know, when I see the sec4s graaduating, counting down the days to the last time they'll ever don the green and white, I'm suddenly aware of how little time I have left in SJI. And I feel sad. Don't know why. Just the feeling that I don't ever want to leave the place.

The place that provided comfort.
The place that brought glory.
The place that taught more than academics.
The place where my heart is and will ever be.

To many boys that pass through those great doors, more come out as the men they never imagined to be.

Men of Faith.
Men of Service.

To most, SJI will be the best ever.
Something never forgotten.
When I read Zul's blog or Wei Kann's.
I know.
I know they can never forget.

And even others who express the feeling in different forms.
Like UOB painter of the year Alvin Ong. Whose experience left on him an indelible mark.

A tribute to his alma mater.

I have one more year to savour and to treasure. Here's Mike and I modeling for the camera. At the stairs. We were GOH, hence the long sleeves.

Looking into the sunset.

ACT only.

Mike and I.

Haha. I'm TALLER than Mike. HAHAHA. ((:

Enjoy what's left of the weekend people!

And all the best for those bloody exams!
